I was traveling solo in the Mentawais, staying near Hollow Trees — one of the most legendary surf breaks in the world. A heavy rain had just passed through when the sky cracked open and this rainbow appeared over the island, the turquoise water still churning from the storm. There's something about being alone in a place that remote that makes moments like this hit differently. No one to say anything to. Just you and the rainbow and the sound of waves.
